Photocatalytic performance of BiOI prepared with different reaction solvents
BiOI photocatalyst was prepared with ethanol, ethylene glycol and glycerol as solvents individually, using solvothermal method. The microstructure was characterized by XRD,XPS,SEM,and N2 adsorption-desorption.Using Rhodamine B as a degradabledye, the photocatalytic performance of BiOI prepared with different solvents was investigated for the removal of dyes from water under simulated visible light. The experimental results showed that the BiOI microspheres prepared with ethylene glycol as the solvent had smaller particles, better dispersibility, and the highest degradation rate of Rhodamine B with 91.6%.The reaction rate constant was 0.020 17 min-1,which was 11 times and 1.3 times that of the samples prepared using ethanol and glycerol as solvents, respectively. The active species capture experiment showed that h+was the main active species participating in the reaction.
