Liver fibrosis is the inevitable stage of cirrhosis of liver.It has been proved that angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors(ACEI)is effective on the treatment of liver fibrosis in animal experiment and clinical trials.This review briefly summarizes how ACEI affect the progression of liver fibrosis based on the molecular mechanisms underlying the progression of liver fibrosis,including renin-angiotensin system,hepatic stellate cells activation,extracellular matrix degradation,oxidative stress and relative signaling pathway.We wish this review could provide novel ideas and means for the prevention and treatment of liver fibrosis.
