Effect of surface modification of tri(tribromophenyl)cyanurate/Sb2O3 on its flame retardancy in acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene
The effect of the surface modification of tri(tribromophenyl)cyanurate(TTBPC)/Sb2O3 on its flame retardancy in acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS)was studied by limiting oxygen index(LOI)measurement, vertical combustion test and cone calorimeter test. The results show that the flame retardant effect of TTBPC/Sb2O3 in ABS is significantly improved by modification with KH550.When w(TTBPC/Sb2 O3)is 15.0%based on the total weight of the composites,m(TTBPC)∶m(Sb2O3)=4.0∶1.0,and m(KH550)∶m(TTBPC/Sb2O3)=2.0%,the LOI and vertical combustion level of flame retarded ABS increases by modification from 25.4%to 29.7%and from none to V-0,respectively.Compared pure ABS,the total heat release(THR),peak heat release rate(PHRR)and mean heat release rate(MHRR)of flame retardant ABS decreases by about 58.6%,55.9%and 55.0%,respectively.
