Numerical simulation of proppant distribution in horizontal well perforation clusters
In order to study proppant migration in perforating clusters of horizontal wells,a horizontal wellbore geometry model was established, and the effects of injection flow, fracturing fluid viscosity and injection φ(sand)on proppant migration were analyzed by using Euler two-fluid model. The results show that,in horizontal wellbore, proppant distribution between perforations is shifted to toe, increasing injection flow rate will promote particle dispersion but reduce perforation uniformity, increasing viscosity can slow particle settlement and facilitate uniform proppant distribution, increasing φ(sand volume fraction)will increase the risk of wellbore blockage, and it is recommended to control injected sand volume fraction within 10%.There is a natural logarithmic relationship between Reynolds number and normalized standard deviation, and a high Reynolds number helps to promote the uniformity of particle flow through perforation.
