Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have made tremendous development in the fields of mobile phones,laptops,electric vehicles,et al.in recent years due to its high operating voltage,long cycle life,good safety performance,low cost,and environmental friendliness.The article provides an overview of the working principle of lithium-ion batteries and the development history of lithium-ion batteries and their electrolytes as well as the scale,production and market sales of the past five years.The development trend of lithium-ion batteries in the next three years has been predicted.It can provide reference and inspiration for the further development of industries such as lithium-ion batteries and electric vehicles as well as the research and production of other new energy secondary batteries.
