Discussion on Methanol Distillation Process Technology
In the methanol production process, refined methanol products can only be obtained through distillation treatment. The existing methanol distillation pro-cess uses steam(or other heat-carrying media)as the heat source for the re-boiler of the distillation column, and the steam at the top of the distillation column is condensed by using circulating cooling water, resulting in high op-erating energy consumption. In the conventional three-column distillation process, the steam consumption per ton of methanol is generally about 1.25 tons, and the circulating water consumption is about 75 tons. However,in the five-column distillation process, the steam consumption per ton of methanol can be reduced to 0.75 tons, and the circulating water consumption can be re-duced to 45 tons.Compared with the conventional three-column distillation process, the effect of energy conservation and consumption reduction is re-markable,but the process flow is rather complicated.Adopting the Mechanical Vapor Recompression(MVR)methanol distillation process, the steam at the top of the distillation column is pressurized and then led to the reboiler at the bottom of the column.By utilizing the heat released during the condensation of the steam at the top of the column to heat the liq-uid at the bottom of the column, zero consumption of externally supplied heat can be achieved, and at the same time, the consumption of circulating cooling water can be greatly reduced.Although the MVR methanol distillation pro-cess requires the consumption of compression work for the steam at the top of the tower, the comprehensive energy-saving benefits are remarkable. In the development trend where carbon reduction, energy conservation and the pro-portion of green electricity supply are increasing day by day,the MVR metha-nol distillation process will be favored and promoted in the industry.
