Gravity Anomaly Characteristics of Tonga-Kermadec Trench and its Geological Significance
The Tonga-Kermadec Trench, located between the Southwest Pacific Plate and the Australian Plate,is one of the most important areas for geodynamic research.Based on the global satellite gravity anomaly database, the data of gravity anomaly and sea floor topography are obtained, and a preliminary analysis of Tonga-Kermadec Trench is carried out based on Surfer software. The results show that the gravity field of the Tonga-Kermadec Trench is mainly distributed in an asymmetrical V-shaped cross section, with a gentle slope on the ocean side and a steep slope on the land side.Large-scale normal faults can be observed tectonically from the pre-arc path to the ocean located in the Tonga-Kermadec subduction zone to the subducted Pacific plate.
