A Low-Cost Treatment System for Titanium Dioxide Calcining Flue Gas
Titanium dioxide is currently the most important white pigment, and its production process mainly involves treating titanium ore to obtain a crude product through calcination, which is then further processed to yield the finished titanium dioxide product.During the calcination stage,a significant amount of flue gas containing sulfur oxides is generated. To meet emission standards, titanium dioxide manufacturers have adopted various treatment methods, but these are costly. Therefore,we have researched a low-cost treatment system for the flue gas from the calcination of titanium dioxide. The system includes a venturi scrubber, calcium carbonate storage tank, desulfurization tower, alkali washing tower, electrostatic precipitator, chimney, desulfurization pump, and fan. This paper presents a method that uses calcium carbonate to absorb sulfur oxides in the flue gas, reducing the consumption of alkali liquor during alkali washing, thereby lowering costs. Moreover, after three stages of flue gas treatment, sulfur compound emissions are extremely low,far below national standards, achieving the goal of ultra-low emissions.
