Evaluation of the Value of Using Anterior Capsule Membrane Polishing to Prevent Posterior Capsule Membrane Clouding in Patients Undergoing Cataract Ultrasound Emulsification
Objective To analyze the role of applying anterior capsule membrane polishing to prevent posterior cap-sule membrane clouding after cataract ultrasound emulsification. Methods 190 cataract ultrasound emulsification pa-tients admitted to Zhangzhou Third Hospital from January 2021 to August 2023 were randomly selected as the study objects, and all patients were divided into two groups according to whether or not they were treated with anterior cap-sule membrane polishing during the operation.100 patients in the study group(100 eyes)were treated with anterior capsule membrane polishing intraoperatively, and 90 patients in the control group(90 eyes)were treated with conven-tional posterior capsule membrane polishing, the IOLs were inserted, and there was no anterior capsule membrane pol-ishing.The distribution of visual acuity and the occurrence of posterior capsular cloudiness were compared between the two groups. Results The visual acuity distribution of the study group was significantly better than that of the con-trol group in all cases after surgery, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).At 6 and 12 months after surgery, the incidence of posterior capsule membrane clouding was 10.0%and 15.0%in the study group, and 22.22%and 27.78%in the control group, respectively, and there were statistically significant differences in the com-parison between the two groups(χ2=5.322,4.653,both P<0.05).Conclusion When cataract patients receive cataract ultrasound emulsification treatment, postoperative anterior capsule membrane polishing treatment can not only signifi-cantly improve the patient's visual acuity, but also effectively prevent postoperative posterior capsule membrane cloud-ing.
