Effect of Pterygium Excision Combined with Limbal Stem Cell Transplan-tation in Elderly Patients with Pterygium
Objective To analyze the clinical effect of pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplanta-tion.Methods The clinical data of 80 cases of elderly pterygium patients admitted to Youxi County General Hospital from January 2021 to January 2023 were retrospectively selected,40 patients treated with simple pterygium excision as the control group, and 40 patients treated with the addition of corneal limbal stem cell transplantation as the obser-vation group. The treatment effects of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the tear film rupture time and basal tear secretion measurement of the observation group were higher than that of the control group, and the corneal conjunctival fluorescein staining score was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statisti-cally significant(all P<0.05).Conjunctival edema and conjunctival congestion scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group at 3 d and 7 d after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The improvement of visual function indexes in the observation group was better than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The complication rate of the observation group was 12.50%and the recurrence rate was 5.00%,which were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(χ2=4.588,5.165,both P<0.05).Conclusion Pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplantation can effectively improve tear film stability and visual function in elderly patients with pterygium, and reduce the incidence of complications and recurrence.
