Effects of Oral Muscle Training Combined with Speech Training on Speech Function Recovery and Social Life Ability of Children with Func-tional Articulation Disorder
Objective To explore the effects of oral muscle training combined with speech training on speech function recovery and social life ability of children with functional articulation disorder.Methods A total of 65 children with functional articulation disorder admitted to the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of Dehua County Hospital,Fu-jian Province from July 2017 to July 2023 were conveniently selected as the study objects.They were divided into con-trol group(32 cases)and study group(33 cases)by random number table method,and given speech training,speech training + oral muscle training,respectively.Speech function recovery and social life ability were compared between the two groups.Results The scores of word clarity,sentence clarity and continuous speech clarity in the speech articu-lation assessment form in the study group were better than those in the control group,and the scores of mandibular,lip,tongue and overall movement scores in the Oral Motor Function Assessment Scale in the study group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P＜0.05).The score of social living ability in the study group(10.11±0.68)points after treatment was higher than that in the control group(9.24±0.57)points,and the difference was statistically significant(t=5.581,P＜0.05).Conclusion Oral muscle training combined with speech training in children with functional articulation disorder can improve oral motor function,promote articula-tion clarity and enhance social life ability.
