Internal Relationship between Thyroid Nodules and Breast Nodules under the Pathogenetic Commonalities
Objective To explore the internal relationship between thyroid nodules and breast nodules from the patho-genetic commonalities.Methods A total of 268 patients admitted to the Third Medical Center of PLA General Hospital from March 2020 to February 2023 were randomly selected as the study objects,including 109 patients with simple thyroid nodules,92 patients with simple breast nodules,and 67 patients with thyroid nodules combined with breast nodules.The levels of estrogen and thyroid hormone in 3 groups were compared.The correlation between thyroid nod-ules and breast nodules was analyzed.Results There were no statistically significant differences in the levels of estro-gen and thyroid hormone between patients with simple thyroid nodule and patients with simple breast nodule,and the differences were statistically significant(all P>0.05).The levels of hormone in patients with simple thyroid nodule and simple breast nodule were significantly different from those in patients with thyroid nodule combined with breast nod-ule,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that luteinizing hormone,prolactin,estradiol,progesterone,free triiodothyronine,free thyroxine and thyrotropin were correlated with thyroid nodular activity,and the differences were statistically significant(r=0.128,0.046,0.258,-0.364,-0.089,-0.140,0.293,all P<0.05)and they were also correlated with breast nodule,and the differences were statistically sig-nificant(r=0.149,0.525,0.067,-0.385,-0.162,-0.627,0.219,all P<0.05).Conclusion Endocrine and estrogen lev-els fluctuated significantly in both patients with thyroid nodules and breast nodules.It can cause abnormal hyperplasia of thyroid gland and mammary gland.The intrinsic relationship between thyroid nodule and mammary gland nodule lies in the common physiological and pathological basis.
