Efficacy of Azithromycin in Treatment of Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Pneu-monia in Children
Objective To investigate the practical effect of azithromycin in the treatment of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia(MPP)in children. Methods A total of 92 children with MPP admitted to Guanxian People's Hospital from August 2021 to May 2023 were selected as the study objects by convenience sampling method, and were divided into group A and Group B according to random number table method, with 46 cases in each group.Children in both groups were treated with azithromycin, group A was treated for 7 d as the first course of treatment, group B was treated for 5 d as the first course of treatment. The levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),procalcitonin(PCT)and serum amyloid A(SAA)were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the total effective rate in group A was higher than that in group B(95.65%vs 80.43%),the difference was statistically significant(χ2=5.060,P<0.05).The time of fever, cough and wheezing and lung shadow resolution in group A were shorter than those in group B,the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment,IL-6,PCT and SAA levels in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and group A was lower than those of group B,the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).During treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions be-tween the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Azithromycin can play a significant therapeutic effect in the treatment of MPP in children.Appropriately extending the duration of the first course of medication can improve the therapeutic ef-fect to a certain extent, greatly shorten the time for clinical symptoms to resolve in children, rapidly improve the in-flammatory response of the body, and has a high drug safety.
