Effects of Trayless Invisible Orthodontic Appliances on Periodontal Health Status and Quality of Life of Adolescent Orthodontic Patients
Objective To evaluate the effects of trayless invisible orthodontic appliances on periodontal health status and quality of life of adolescent orthodontic patients.Methods A total of patients of adolescent orthodontic patients ad-mitted to Xiamen Zhuoya Stomatological Hospital from June 2020 to August 2022 were randomly selected as the study objects,and were divided into a control group and an observation group of 40 cases each according to the different treatment methods.The control group used fixed orthodontic appliances,the observation group used trayless invisible orthodontic appliances,both groups were treated for 12 months,comparing the orthodontic effect,periodontal condi-tion,gingival sulcus fluid inflammation stress and quality of life of the two groups.Results The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was 92.50%,which was higher than 72.50%in the control group,and the differ-ence was statistically significant(χ2=5.541,P<0.05).After treatment,the periodontal indicators(sulcus bleeding index and plaque index)and the levels of inflammatory stress indicators of gingival sulcus fluid in observation group were better than those in control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The quality of life of patients in both groups after treatment was decreased than before treatment,and the observation group was better,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of trayless invisible orthodontic appli-ance treatment in adolescent orthodontic patients can help to improve orthodontic effect,maintain periodontal health,reduce inflammatory stress reaction,and enhance the quality of life.
