The Effect Analysis of Orthodontics Combined with Repair on Dental Function and Aesthetics in Patients with Dentition Defect and Dentofacial Deformity
Objective To explore the clinical effect of combining orthodontics and restoration in the treatment of den-tal defects with malocclusion, and to observe the impact on dental function and aesthetics in patients. Methods The clinical data of 100 patients with dentition defect and dentofacial deformity admitted to the Department of Stomatology of Fourth People's Hospital of Lu'an from October 2020 to October 2022 were retrospectively selected and divided into two groups according to different treatment methods. The control group(50 cases)received oral repair treatment, and the observation group(50 cases)was treated with orthodontics combined with repair treatment. The repair effect, aesthetics and quality of life of the two groups were evaluated. The tooth condition, teeth function, chewing efficiency and bite force and oral condition before and after treatment were compared. Results The total effective rate of treat-ment in the observation group(92.00%)was higher than that of the control group(72.00%),and the difference was sta-tistically significant(χ2=6.775,P<0.05).After treatment, the rate of good occlusion of posterior teeth, the rate of neat arrangement of teeth, the rate of good overjet/overbite of anterior teeth and the score of dental function in the observa-tion group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the chewing efficiency and bite force of the observation group were significantly im-proved,and the oral plaque adhesion index and debris index were significantly decreased, which were better than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the aesthetic score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the quality of life score was lower than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of orthodontic and restorative treatment is effective for patients with dental defects and concurrent malocclusion in clini-cal practice. It can improve tooth function and oral health, enhance chewing efficiency and bite force, and has strong aesthetics.
