Analysis of the Effect of Montelukast and Budesonide in the Treatment of Children with Cough Variant Asthma and the Improvement of Lung Func-tion
Objective To investigate the effect of montelukast and budesonide on the improvement of lung function in children with cough variant asthma(CVA).Methods A total of 80 children with CVA admitted to Anxi County Hospi-tal from June 2021 to June 2023 were randomly selected as study objects and divided into two groups according to ran-dom number table, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with budesonide monotherapy, and the observation group was treated with budesonide and montelukast. The cough symptoms, lung function, serum inflamma-tion indexes and medication safety were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the scores of day-time and nighttime cough symptoms in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the lung function indexes were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of serum interleukin-6 and eosinophils in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 10.00%,which was higher than 5.00%in the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant(χ2=0.180,P=0.671).Conclusion The combination of montelukast and budesonide in children with CVA can more effectively relieve their cough symptoms, improve lung function, reduce the body's inflammatory response, and the safety of medication is high.
