The Safety of Painless Delivery Under Epidural Anesthesia and Its Impact on Delivery Outcomes
Objective To explore the safety of using epidural anesthesia in painless delivery and its impact on delivery outcomes. Methods Clinical data of 122 parturients who delivered in Heze Maternal and Child Health Hospital from April 2022 to May 2023 were retrospectively selected and divided into control group(n=61,conventional delivery)and study group(n=61,painless delivery with epidural anesthesia)according to different delivery methods. The natural de-livery rate, labor time, postpartum blood loss, neonatal Apgar score and the state of adverse maternal and infant out-comes were compared between the two groups. Results The natural delivery rate of the study group was 95.08%(58/61),higher than that of the control group 83.61%(51/61)the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The first, second and third stages of labor in the study group were all shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The postpartum blood loss in the study group was lower than that in the con-trol group, and the neonatal Apgar score was higher than that in the control group, the differences were statistically sig-nificant(both P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse maternal and infant outcomes in the study group was 3.28%(2/61),which was lower than that in the control group 13.11%(8/61),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=3.921,P<0.05).Conclusion Epidural anesthesia in painless delivery is a safe and effective way to shorten labor time, improve Apgar score, reduce postpartum bleeding, increase the rate of natural delivery, and reduce the incidence of adverse maternal and infant outcomes.
