Clinical Effect and Safety of Total Endoscopic Thyroidectomy Via Areola Approach for Benign Thyroid Tumors
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of total endoscopic thyroidectomy for benign thyroid tumors through the total areola approach. Methods A total of 100 patients with benign thyroid tumors admitted to the Department of General Surgery in Liangzhou Hospital of Wuwei City from June 2021 to June 2023 were randomly se-lected as the research objects. They were divided into two groups by different treatment methods, with 50 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with total endoscopic thyroidectomy through the whole areola approach, and the control group was treated with open surgery. The surgical indicators, stress hormone levels, thyroid hormone levels, and complication rates were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time and hospitalization time of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group, and the drainage volume and bleeding volume at 1 d after operation were less than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the observation group was 2.00%(1/50)lower than that in the control group 20.00%(10/50),the difference was statistically significant(χ 2=8.274,P<0.05).12 hours after surgery, cortisol was(234.25±5.71)mg/L,norepinephrine was(285.96±5.71)pmol/L and adrenocorticotropic hormone was(1 622.63±25.96)pmol/L in the observation group, which were lower than those in the control group(270.63±5.33)mg/L,(350.63±6.07)pmol/L,(1 898.36±26.11)pmol/L,the differences were statistically significant(t=32.933,54.873,52.953,all P<0.05).At 12 h after operation, there was no significant difference in thyroid hormone levels between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclu-sion The clinical effect of the benign thyroid tumor surgery by the whole areola approach is significant and has high safety.
