The Effect of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Ventilation as an Adju-vant Therapy for OSAHS and Its Impact on Serum IL-6 Expression
Objective To investigate the efficacy of continuous positive airway pressure ventilation in the adjunctive treatment of obstructive sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome(OSAHS)and its effect on serum interleukin-6(IL-6)expression.Methods A total of 72 OSAHS patients diagnosed and treated in the Sixth Division Hospital of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps from August 2021 to June 2023 were conveniently selected as the study objects and divided into study group and routine group according to different treatment methods, with 36 cases in each group. The routine group was given routine treatment, and the study group was given continuous positive airway pressure ad-juvant treatment on the basis of the routine group. Both groups were observed for 4 weeks.Pulmonary function index, serum IL-6 level, apnea hypopnea index, longest apnea time and complication rate were compared between the two groups. Results After 4 weeks of treatment, the lung function of both groups was better than before treatment, and the values of forced expiratory volume in the first second and the ratio of forced expiratory volume in first second and forced vital copacity in the study group were higher than those in the routine group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment, the apnea hypopnea index was(8.39±2.11)times/h and the longest apnea time was(21.37±2.87)s in the study group, which were lower than those in the routine group(10.98±2.33)times/h and(32.39±3.38)s,and the differences were statistically significant(t=4.944,14.912,both P<0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment, the serum IL-6 level in two groups was lower than before treatment, and the study group was lower than the routine group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The total complication rate of the study group was lower than that of the routine group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclu-sion Continuous positive airway pressure assisted treatment of OSAHS can improve lung function, reduce apnea hy-popnea index and longest apnea time of patients, inhibit serum IL-6 level, and reduce the incidence of complications in patients.
