Application of Oral Glucose 2 Hour before Anesthesia in Patients Undergo-ing Elective Non-gastrointestinal Surgery
Objective To explore the application value of oral glucose 2 hous before anesthesia in patients undergoing elective non-gastrointestinal surgery. Methods The clinical data of 200 patients who underwent elective non-gastrointestinal surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University from October 2021 to Decem-ber 2022 were retrospectively selected.According to the presence or absence of oral glucose 2 hour before surgery, they were divided into observation group and control group, with 100 cases in each group. The observation group was given 10%glucose 2 hour before anesthesia, and the control group was not given any liquid 2 hour before anesthesia. The subjective comfort, the completion rate of gastric emptying before anesthesia induction, the incidence of postopera-tive nausea and vomiting, blood glucose and insulin concentration before anesthesia were analyzed in the two groups. Results The proportion of thirst, hunger and anxiety in the subjective comfort of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).There was no significant dif-ference in the completion rate of gastric emptying between the two groups before anesthesia induction(P>0.05).The incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting in the observation group was 4.00%(4/100),which was lower than 13.00%(13/100)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=5.207,P<0.05).The levels of blood glucose and insulin in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).Conclusion Oral administration of a small amount of glucose 2 hour before anesthesia can significantly improve the comfort of patients undergoing non-gastrointestinal surgery, reduce the inci-dence of postoperative nausea and vomiting, and increase the blood glucose level and insulin concentration before an-esthesia.
