Analysis of the Effects of Hydromorphone on Postoperative Analgesia and Cognitive Function in Elderly Patients Undergoing Radical Resection of Colon Cancer
Objective To apply hydromorphone in postoperative analgesia for elderly patients undergoing radical re-section of colon cancer and analyze the application effect of this drug. Methods A total of 102 elderly colon cancer pa-tients who received radical surgery in the general surgery Department of Jiawang District People's Hospital of Xuzhou City from January 2022 to December 2023 were conveniently selected as the research objects.According to different analgesic drugs, they were divided into a study group(given hydromorphone)and a control group(given sufentanil as the main drug for postoperative patient-controlled intravenous analgesia),with 51 cases in each group. The analgesic effect, cognitive function, and occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results After analgesia, the Numerical Rating Scale scores of the study group at 48 h and 72 h after surgery were(1.65±0.61)points and(1.01±0.42)points,which were lower than those of the control group(2.31±0.53)points and(2.12±0.11)points,and the differences were statistically significant(t=5.833,18.258;both P<0.05).Before analgesia, there were no statis-tically significant differences in the neuron-specific enolase(NSE)and S100β protein(S-100β)indexes of the two groups of patients 1 h before surgery(both P>0.05).After analgesia, the NSE and S-100β indexes of the study group at 72 h after surgery were(7.22±0.52)μg/L and(88.75±7.26)pg/mL,which were lower than those of the control group(9.51±0.62)μg/L and(109.22±8.22)pg/mL,and the differences were statistically significant(t=20.210,13.329;both P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the study group was 1.96%(1/51),which was lower than 17.65%(9/51)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=7.096,P=0.008).Conclusion The application of hydromorphone in postoperative patient-controlled intravenous analgesia for elderly patients after radical resection of colon cancer can effectively reduce the postoperative pain degree of patients, has a good analgesic effect, can reduce the impact on postoperative cognitive impairment of patients, and has a low incidence of adverse reactions.
