Objective To study the effect of traditional Chinese medicine nursing on acute attack of bronchial asthma(BA)in the elderly. Methods A total of 82 elderly patients with acute attack of BA admitted to Pizhou Hospital of Tra-ditional Chinese Medicine from June 2020 to October 2023 were convenient to select as the research objects.Accord-ing to different nursing methods, they were divided into control group(41 cases, routine nursing)and observation group(41 cases, traditional Chinese medicine nursing). The symptom scores, anxiety and depression scores and nurs-ing satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results After nursing, the symptom score(wheezing, chest tightness, expectoration, cough)in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(all P<0.05).After nursing, the scores of anxiety and depression in the observation group were(38.52±3.69)points and(40.95±3.41)points,respectively,which were lower than those in the control group(45.87±4.55)points and(46.35±4.33)points,the differences were statistically significant(t=8.034,6.274;both P<0.05).The total satisfaction rate of the observation group was 95.12%(39/41),which was higher than 80.49%(33/41)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.100,P<0.05).Conclusion Traditional Chi-nese medicine nursing for elderly patients with acute attack of BA can reduce negative emotions such as anxiety and depression, improve asthma symptoms such as wheezing, chest tightness, expectoration and cough, and improve pa-tient satisfaction.
