Comparison of the Effects of Hydromorphone and Sufentanil in Postopera-tive Analgesia and Delirium Control in Elderly Orthopedic Patients
Objective To explore the application effect of hydromorphone and sufentanil in postoperative analgesia and delirium control in elderly orthopaedic patients. Methods 150 elderly patients who received surgical treatment in the Department of Orthopaedics of Taizhou People's Hospital from January 2022 to August 2023 were randomly se-lected and divided into two groups of 75 cases each with different anaesthesia methods. Both groups were given patient-controlled intravenous analgesia(PCIA),with sufentanil applied in the control group and hydromorphone in the exploratory group. The use of PCIA,pain level, inflammatory response level, delirium and complication rate were compared between the two groups. Results The amount of automatic drug intake, the number of presses and the actual effective number of drug intake in the exploratory group were less than those in the control group(all P<0.05).After analgesia, the pain degree of the two groups was better than that before analgesia, and the exploratory group was better than the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After analgesia, the levels of inflam-matory factors in the two groups were lower than those before analgesia, and those in the exploratory group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The incidence of postopera-tive delirium was 0(0/75)and the total incidence of complication was 5.33%(4/75)in the exploratory group, which were lower than those in the control group 8.00%(6/75)and 16.00%(12/75),the differences were statistically signifi-cant(χ2=4.340,4.478;both P<0.05).Conclusion The application of hydromorphone in postoperative analgesia and de-lirium control in elderly orthopaedic patients is more effective than sufentanil, which can more effectively reduce the pain of the patients, lower the level of inflammatory response, and reduce the occurrence of delirium and complica-tions.
