Effectiveness of Ecological Recovery of Rivers and Lakes in Groundwater Over-exploitation Areas of North China
With the rapid development of economy and society, the demand for water resources is increasing.Long-term over-exploitation of groundwater has resulted in the drying of groundwater aquifers, subsidence of land surface, sea(salt)water intrusion, and land desertification and other problems in North China. However, groundwater plays an important role in ecology and the environment, such as regulating river runoff, maintaining ground stability, and sustaining ecological environment. It is of great significance to carry out the over-exploitation of groundwater in North China to promote the ecological recovery of the rivers and lakes by multi-measures,the ecological recovery of rivers and lakes has achieved remarkable progress. This paper analyzes the situation of groundwater over-exploitation in North China, introduces the background of ecological recharge of rivers and lakes, summarizes the ecological recharge of rivers and lakes carried out in recent years, and analyzes the effect of ecological recharge and groundwater recharge.
