Analysis of Health Issues and Protection Strategies of Zhanghe River
This study aims to evaluate the health status of the Zhanghe River,a water-scarce river in the river network area of the North China Plain, and propose corresponding conservation strategies.Through conducting a comprehensive evaluation from four dimensions of"basin","water",biology and social service functions, the study finds that Zhanghe River was in a healthy state as a whole(83.04 points). However, there are significant differences in health status between upstream and downstream, with better health status in upstream and worse health status in downstream. The main health problems comprise uneven water resource allocation caused by reservoir regulation and the deterioration of downstream water quality due to agricultural non-point source pollution. To solve these problems,it is suggested to optimize reservoir dispatching strategies, implement integrated watershed management, and enhance the water use efficiency of downstream agriculture to achieve sustainable water resource management and ecological health in the Zhanghe River basin. This study provides a scientific evaluation method for assessing the health of water-scarce rivers in plain river network areas and has significant implications for promoting the development of river health.
