The diversion tunnels of hydropower stations are generally circular pressure tunnels, and the commonly used calculation methods of reinforced concrete lining are mainly pressurized tunnel design method based on design specifications(referred to as formula method)and based on finite element method(referred to as finite element method). In practical project, when these two calculation methods are used for design, the results are usually quite different. In this article, combined with the circular pressure diversion tunnel of a hydropower station project, the lining structure is calculated by formula method and finite element method respectively.By comparing and analyzing the differences between the calculation results obtained by the two methods, the reasons for the differences are analyzed according to the basic principles and basic assumptions, and corresponding suggestions are given.
