Drought Characteristics of Qinhuangdao City Based on Precipitation Anomaly Percentage
Under the backdrop of climate change, the variation of precipitation and drought characteristics in Qinhuangdao City were investigated.Based on the analysis of a 68-year precipitation series from 1956 to 2023,the precipitation anomaly percentage index was used to examine drought characteristics and predict future drought trends. The spatial and temporal distribution of precipitation in Qinhuangdao City was highly uneven, with an average annual precipitation of 663.7 mm and an extreme precipitation ratio of 2.95.The significant variability in precipitation led to a high probability of drought disasters, with 20 out of the 68 years experiencing droughts of varying severity.By decade, drought conditions were relatively mild during 1970-1979 and 2020-2023,while severe droughts occurred frequently between 1980 and 2009,with a high frequency of droughts and multiple instances of consecutive drought years. This research provides a foundation for drought disaster prevention and mitigation in Qinhuangdao City.
