Abstract
Black Carbon(BC),a common particulate pollutant, has a complex composition that profoundly impacts air quality, the ecological environment, and even human health.Delving into its occurrence, distribution, and transformation processes is crucial for a deep understanding of its effects on climate change, air pollution control, and health implications.BC arises from both natural and anthropogenic sources and undergoes cross-media transmission among water, air, and soil phases, complicating its source tracing studies. Its spatiotemporal distribution is influenced by various factors, including geography, meteorology, and emission sources, making its study challenging. This review focused on the sources and sinks of BC,its presence, spatiotemporal distribution, and transformation in different environmental media, the distribution patterns and key influencing factors, which provided theoretical support for better understanding of the"carbon cycle"and the implementation of"dual carbon strategy".
