Abstract
Chlorinated Paraffins(CPs)are high-production-volume persistent and toxic industrial chemicals found ubiquitously in various environmental matrices. In this study,short-chain and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins were quantitatively analyzed for eight kinds of shellfish commonly found in Yuhuan city,a typical island city in the East China Sea.The total average concentration of short-chain chlorinated paraffins(SCCPs)was in the range of 101-535 ng·g-1 dw,and that of medium-chain chlorinated paraffins(MCCPs)was in the range of 100-740 ng·g-1 dw.The main CPs in eight shellfish were SCCPs with carbon chain length of C10 and MCCPs with carbon chain length of C14.Risk assessment results indicate that there is no human health impact from the ingestion of CPs through shellfish.
