Environmental Monitoring of Cross Border River Basin Using High Resolution Remote Sensing Image——A Case Study of the Red River Basin
Based on high resolution remote sensing images, the information of five water pollution sources, from industrial district, factory, mine, tailing reservoir and aquafarm in the Red River Basin, were derived by visual interpretation.Comparing these pollution sources in China-Vietnam border, the number of industrial districts and aquafarm in the Red River Basin of Vietnam were much larger than that in China. However, there were much more mines and tailing reservoirs in China than that in Vietnam. The number of factories were the same in China as in Vietnam. In addition, most of the mines and tailing reservoirs located near the main and tributary stream of the Red River, which increased the risk of heavy metal pollution in that area.
