Numerical Simulation of Groundwater Pollution Migration and Control in A Chemical Industry Park
As fluoride in groundwater in a chemical park exceeded the standard seriously,an anti-seepage curtain was applied along the riverbank embankment to prevent contaminated groundwater.By analyzing the hydrogeological conditions in the study area,a numerical groundwater model was established by FEFLOW 7.0 to predict the migration of contaminated groundwater before and after applying anti-seepage curtain, and evaluate the pollution control effect of the anti-seepage curtain. The results showed that the contaminated groundwater in the chemical industry park migrated quickly in the aquifer dominated by silt and fine sand sandstone. After 200 days, the contaminants polluted groundwater near source strength and large area downstream. The application of anti-seepage curtain in the downstream of the pollution source along the river embankment could effectively pre-vent the continuous migration of pollutants in the short term, but it would lead to the accumulation of pollutants before the curtain. After a period of time, the pollutants in groundwater would bypass the anti-seepage curtain and cause seepage pollution. It was necessary to control groundwater pollution comprehensively in conjunction with other treatment measures.
