Study on the Difference in Soil Particle Size Distribution along Urbanization Gradient in Urumqi
A total of 88 topsoil(0 cm~20 cm)samples were collected along urbanization gradient zones in Urumqi,Xinjiang, the composition of soil particle size was determined using laser diffraction technology. The distribution characteristics of soil particle size on different gradient zones and the relationship between parti-cle size parameters were analyzed using fractal dimension(Dv),average particle size(MG),sorting coefficient(σG),skewness(SKG)and kurtosis(KG).The results indicated that the particle size composition of rural soil in the study area was the coarsest, while that of wasteland soil was the finer. The average of Dv of soil in each gradi-ent zone was in the order of wasteland>suburban>urban>rural. The σG of topsoil in each gradient zone was greater than 4.0,and the sorting ability was at extremely poor level.Dv and MG of soil could reflect the dis-tribution characteristics of topsoil particle size in different gradient zones. The Dv of soil in each gradient zone was greatly affected by the composition of soil particle size, and soil clay content played a dominant role.
