Effects of Nitrogen on Growth and Photosynthetic Characteristics of Typical Diatoms in Danjiangkou Reservoir
Taking typical dominant diatoms of Fragilaria sp.,Synedra ulna and Cyclotella meneghiniana in Danjiangkou Reservoir as the research objects, using sodium nitrate(nitrate nitrogen)and ammonium chloride(ammonia nitrogen)as nitrogen sources, the growth characteristics and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters of the three type of diatoms under different nitrogen conditions were investigated. The results showed that nitrogen could affect the growth and reproduction of diatoms by changing their photosynthetic efficiency.Com-pared with ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen could better meet the growth needs of the three types of diatoms. When nitrate nitrogen was 10 mg/L,the three types of diatoms grew well with maximum cell densities of 136.13×104 cells/mL,82.88×104 cells/mL and 159.40×104 cells/mL,respectively.By measuring chloro-phyll fluorescence parameters, the eutrophication of water quality in Danjiangkou Reservoir could be monitored.
