Remote Monitoring System for Substation Equipment Based on IoT and LoRa Technology
A 22 kV distribution transformer fault monitoring system based on IoT technology and LoRa communication was designed to meet the needs of substation equipment monitoring. The system consists of sensor nodes installed at the transformer,a gateway station for data aggregation, and the ThingSpeak cloud server.Voltage sensors are deployed in the substation to collect real-time data, which is transmitted over long distances using LoRa modules.Alerts are sent via SMS using a 4G module, and data is uploaded to the cloud platform through Wi-Fi,enabling real-time monitoring and fault warning of substation equipment.A field test lasting one and a half months in an actual substation environment demonstrated that the system accurately detected and recorded various power faults and promptly issued alerts. The results provide a low-cost,high-efficiency solution for remote monitoring of substation equipment, contributing to improved stability and operational efficiency of the power system.
