Investigation and Diversity Analysis of Avian Resources in Huanggang Section of the Mainstream Yangtze River
To study the avian resources and diversity in the Huanggang section of the mainstream Yangtze River,we conducted bird monitoring and diversity analysis in six counties along the river in Huanggang City from 2021 to 2022.The results are as follows:(1)Species Composition:A total of 131 species belonging to 47 families across 15 orders were recorded.Passeriformes had the highest number with 79 species.Among residency types, resident birds were the most common with 55 species.By geographical distribution, there were 52 Palaearctic species,58 Oriental species, and 21 widespread species.Seventeen species are nationally protected.Four species are categorized as Vulnerable(VU)by the International Union for Conservation of Nature(IUCN).(2)Habitat Patch Types:Bird species richness ranked from highest to lowest as follows:farmland>forest>built-up areas>mountain streams>lakes and rivers.(3)Diversity Indices:Analysis using the ACE index resulted in the following order:Qichun County>Wuxue City>Xishui County>Huangmei County>Yuanfeng County>Huangzhou District.Analysis using the Shannon-Wiener index resulted in:Yuanfeng County>Xishui County>Qichun County>Wuxue City>Huangmei County>Huangzhou District.Rare birds significantly influenced alpha diversity.(4)Principal Coordinate Analysis:Principal coordinate analysis using Bray-Curtis transformation showed that the first two principal components accounted for 65.2%of the variance, indicating a regional characteristic in bird distribution.(5)Cluster Analysis:Cluster analysis based on Bray-Curtis distance indicated high similarity in species distribution between Xishui County,Qichun County and Wuxue City.Tuanfeng County also showed relatively high similarity with Xishui County. However,Huangmei County and Huangzhou District exhibited lower similarity with the other four counties and cities. In summary, the avian resources in this section of the mainstream Yangtze River are relatively rich, with spatial differences in bird composition among different counties. This reflects the spatial independence feature of bird diversity. This study is significant for the assessment and protection of avian resources in the region.
