Remote sensing analysis of ecological protection and construction in important water-supply area of Yellow River in south of Gansu Province
The critical water-supply ecological function area of the Yellow River in south Gansu Province is an important water supply area of the Yellow River basin and also an essential part of the ecological barrier of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which has a very important ecosystem service function for China.Due to the combined effects of natural and human factors, ecosystems have experienced varying degrees of degradation for a long time, leading to the function of water conservation has been weakened.Since 2000,the Chinese government has carried out a series of ecological protection and construction projects here, and the ecological environment has been restored and improved.By monitoring the current status and changing characteristics of the ecosystems,it is possible to evaluate the effectiveness of ecological engineering implementation and identify major ecological issues, which helps to enhance the scientific nature of ecological protection planning, construction, and management decisions. In this study,multi-source remote sensing data were used as the information source to extract ecosystem types and quality parameters from 2000 to 2020,and systematically analyzes the ecosystem structure, quality status, and change characteristics of the Yellow River water supply-area in south of Gansu Province. The results showed that the ecosystem in this region was dominated by high coverage vegetation in the past 20 years, and the ecosystem was in good condition. On the whole, the changes in the structure and quality of the ecosystem over the years are relatively small, and the ecosystem is basically stable.Ecological protection and construction projects have achieved significant results. However, ecological problems such as grassland degradation, desertification and marsh area shrinkage still exist in some areas, and ecological protection and construction are still at a critical stage. It is suggested that more efforts should be made to implement ecological protection and construction projects in areas with degraded ecosystems.
