The current research status and conservation strategies for sustainable utilization of Rhodiola plants in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
High-altitude Rhodiola plants on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, renowned for their unique and abundant medicinal components, are commonly used in traditional Chinese and Tibetan medicine. However, the widespread issue of overharvesting poses a significant threat to this valuable resource, resulting in severe ecological damage and impacting the sustainable utilization of Tibetan medicinal resources. This study provides a comprehensive review of the resource status, metabolites and their medicinal properties, genomics, and research related to endophytic fungi in Rhodiola plants on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The aim is to gain a thorough understanding of their medicinal potential and ecological characteristics. In response to the current state of resource utilization, corresponding conservation strategies are proposed, intending to offer a scientific basis for the sustainable development of Rhodiola plants on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
