Evaluation of the economic value of wild birds——Take the birds found in Xinying Mangrove National Wetland Park in Hainan Province as an example
It is a very meaningful and difficult task to carry out the economic value assessment of biodiversity, especially wild birds.Based on the benchmark price of birds and its overall value estimation method provided in the Valuation Method of Wild Animal and Its Products, this study adjusts and optimizes the benchmark price of birds according to the field survey data provided in the literature, and their latest protection level and endangered level. The economic values of birds found in spring, summer, autumn and winter survey in Xinying Mangrove National Wetland Park,Hainan Province in 2016 were quantified respectively. The results showed that the estimated values of birds found in spring, summer, autumn and winter in 2016 were 144.28×104 yuan,13.00×104 yuan,1043.82×104 yuan and 1044.99×104 yuan(price in 2017),respectively,and there were great differences among the seasons. The carrying capacity for birds in Xinying Mangrove National Wetland Park is the largest in winter, the second in autumn, and the least in summer. From the value contribution of different birds, the most important birds that should be paid attention to are spoon-billed Sandpiper(Eurynorhynchus pygmeus)and black-faced Spoonbill(Platalea minor),which are two national Class Ⅰ protected animals, followed by the birds with more individuals such as Egret(Egretta garzetta),Great egret(Egretta alba),Whimbrel(Numenius phaeopus)and Siberian Sandplover(Charadrius mongolus). The combined application of the valuation method proposed in the study and traditional biodiversity assessment can better understand the conservation value and changes of birds in the survey area.
