Detection of solid waste deposits based on electromagnetic induction
In this study, electromagnetic induction was utilized to identify a farmland and localize a probable solid waste deposit. The results were calibrated by electrical resistivity tomography and verified by borehole sampling. In this study, the resistivity value less than 3.76 Ω·m was used as the criterion for determining the solid waste deposit. The results show that for the known subsidence area, the results from the electromagnetic induction method are in good agreement with the actual condition, and another waste deposit with crops still growing on the surface is discovered as well. The spatial coverage of the suspected solid waste deposit in the whole site accounts for 30.55%.According to the detection results,12 boreholes were selected to verify the landfill has municipal waste, sludge disposal and so on.In this study,it took only 12 hours with 105600 data points obtained, and 99.78%of them were further analyzed.Through the electromagnetic induction method, the contamination detection and location of the potential solid waste deposit are realized, which is of practical significance for guiding landfill excavation and further remediation.
