Impacts of the plateau pika on the ecosystem of the Tibetan Plateau
The plateau pika(Ochotona curzoniae)is a small burrowing mammal on the Tibetan Plateau.A certain number of plateau pikas can have positive effects on the ecosystem,such as food chain stability,while too many can have negative effects.In order to investigate the impacts of plateau pikas on the ecosystem of the Tibetan Plateau,this study mainly focuses on the positive impacts of providing shelter for plateau animals and providing food for plateau carnivores as the key to the food web on the Tibetan Plateau,as well as the negative impacts caused by overpopulation of plateau pikas,and it also explains the status of plateau pikas in the ecosystem and gives an outlook of the future research direction.
