Study on Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristics in the Rod Bundle Channel of the Wire-wrapped Fuel Based on the CFD
Wire-wrapped fuel has several advantages, such as high power density, good heat transfer capability and others.Compared with the round-grid fuel,it can effectively reduce the core volume and realize compact reactor arrangement. The flow and heat transfer phenomena in a four-wire component bundle channel was studied by three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics software Fluent, and mainly focused on the influence of the wire pitch and the characteristics of the mixing effect. The results show that with the decrease of the wire pitch, the average temperature in the channel decreased and the pressure drop increased;under the action of wire winding, there is an obvious transverse mixing between channels, and the transverse mixing decreases with the increase of the wire winding pitch. When analyzing the circumferential temperature of the rod,it is found that the hot spot is mainly concentrated in the vicinity of the contact point between the wire winding and the rod,and the deterioration of local heat transfer should be paid attention to in the thermal safety analysis.
