The Development and Evolution of Tragedy Criticism in Yuan Drama
The criticism of the tragedy of Yuan drama originated from the spread of Western learning to the East.The tragic characteristics of Yuan Zaju were first discovered in the West,and its form and content were westernized and transformed in translation and dissemination.At the beginning of the 20th century,it was recog-nized in Wang Guowei's"History of Song and Yuan Opera".It went through three stages enlightenment,devel-opment,and maturity.Through research and practice,it explored the ideas and methods of criticism of Yuan drama,and gradually formed the theory of criticism of Yuan drama in China.Based on this,it further promoted the innovative development of Yuan drama.
