Study on Millet Cake Culture and its Culture Function in Northern Shanxi Province
The research of food culture is an important entrance to the study of the overall social culture.The millet cake is a traditional food in northern Shanxi Province and is not just about food.Under the combined action of the local ecology and historical environment,a food culture with millet cake as the core has gradually formed.Based on the deep description of the cake-making,eating and consumption methods of a series of cul-tural matters,from the perspective of cultural function theory,it explains the social and cultural functions of mil-let cake,such as courtesy education,standardizing behaviour,strengthening identity and promoting communica-tion in the northern Shanxi society.While excavating the value of traditional food culture,we can see the core of local society and culture,which helps to deepen the understanding of the cultural soil and social conventional substrate of traditional diet generation and to enrich the case study of Chinese food anthropology.
