Advances in the study of reproductive biological functions of taste receptors
Mammals utilize their physiological sense of taste through taste receptors to identify chemicals in their surroundings as a self-defense mechanism. The taste receptors expressed not only in the brain, digestive tract, and respiratory system, but also in reproductive organs including the ovary and testis. The significant progress achieved in the study of the reproductive biological functions of the taste receptors thanks to the non-taste functions of the taste sensory. This paper reviewed the development of taste receptors'reproductive biological function, addressed their chemical perception mechanism during spermatogenesis, aiming to provide a reference for the study of taste reproductive toxicology and gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between taste and reproductive health.
