Analysis of the Effect and Mechanism of Digital Economy in Promoting Carbon Emission Reduction:A Case Study of Hubei Province
Using the data of prefecture-level cities in Hubei Province from 2011 to 2021,this paper studies the effect and mechanism of digital economy in promoting carbon emission reduction.The study finds that Hubei digital economy can significantly promote carbon emission reduction.Digital technology innovation and energy efficiency improvement play an important mediating role.Furthermore,because of the difference in the urban agglomerations and resource endowments,digital economy has a more prominent effect on the carbon emission reduction of Wuhan urban agglomeration and resource-based cities.Therefore,it is necessary for Hubei Province to develop the digital economy,formulate development strategies according to local conditions,and reduce regional carbon emissions with digital technology innovation and energy efficiency improvement.
