Research on the Impact of Tariff Concessions on China's Mechanical and Electrical Product Exports under the RCEP Framework—Based on GTAP simulation analysis
Mechanical and electrical products are important export products in China's trade with RCEP member countries.Using the Display Comparative Advantage Index,Trade Competitive Advantage Index,and Trade Complementarity Index,this study explores the trade competitiveness and complementarity of mechanical and electrical products between China and other RCEP member countries from 2012 to 2022.On this basis,GTAP software is used to analyze the impact of tariff reductions on China's exports of mechanical and electrical products.Research has found that under the RCEP framework,tariff reductions are beneficial for the expansion of China's mechanical and electrical product exports,and the long-term effects are more significant than in the short term;The trade creation effect and trade transfer effect generated by tariff reduction are very obvious,specifically manifested as the transfer from countries outside the RCEP region to within the RCEP region;The impact of tariff reductions on China's exports of different types of mechanical and electrical products varies.
