Analysis of the Development Path of Interdisciplinary Scientific Research Organization Models at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences in New York University
Effectively organizing interdisciplinary research faces numerous challenges. The Courant Institute of Mathematical Sci-ences at New York University has achieved a transformation from balancing the internal branches of mathematics to constructing an in-terdisciplinary knowledge system, from addressing singular issues to engaging in extensive cooperation to meet national and societal needs, and from initial exchanges and collaborations to establishing independent departments and a comprehensive set of interdiscipli-nary clusters. The key to these transformations lies in the adherence to the core values of interdisciplinary research, the creations of a diversified organizational platform, the implementations of flexible personnel strategies, and the adoptions of precise talent cultivation models. The research found that its interdisciplinary research organizational model exhibits a growthhighlylogic consistent with the core principles of transdisciplinary theory.By drawing on transdisciplinary theory, strategic recommendations are proposed for the inherit-ance of core values within research communities, the integration of foundational and advantageous disciplines, and the social applica-tions and transformations of research results, with the aim of providing theoretical guidance and practical references for universities and research institutions in organizing interdisciplinary scientific research in China.
