Retrospect and prospect of research on code switching:a bibliometric analysis based on VOSviewer and Bibliometrix
With the growing number of bilingual and multilingual individuals worldwide,research on bilingualism and multilingualism has become increasingly important.Code switching,as one research topic,has received much attention,and related theoretical and applied achievements are becoming more abundant.The present study adopts VOSviewer and Bibliometrix,a bibliometric software package in R,to conduct a visual analysis of 544 code-switching research articles from 1992 to 2022,in order to reveal the current research status and development trends in this field.The study found that domestic code-switching research were carried out mainly from perspectives of psycholinguistics,sociolinguistics,and language teaching.Based on existing studies,this paper presents possible research directions in the future,aiming to provide implications for both theoretical research and practical applications in this field.
