Research on reliability of traffic network based on autonomous and manual driving hybrid flow
With the rapid development of autonomous driving technology,it is inevitable that autonomous and manual driving vehicles will mix. Therefore,it is urgent to study the traffic characteristics in the environment of hybrid automated-manual conditions. The reliability of traffic network can reflect the operation state of traffic flow more comprehensively, however, the current road network evaluation model neglects the comprehensive impact of unexpected events, which makes it difficult to accurately evaluate the network reliability under hybrid automated-manual conditions. Therefore, the road resilience index is introduced based on the existing model to enhance the reliability model of the road network. This enhancement takes into account the recovery properties of the road network when it faces interferences or disruptions.Based on the measured road network data of Yongledian Town in Beijing,a hybrid traffic flow simulation model under automatic driving conditions was constructed using Vissim. The model was used to investigate the road network reliability under various automatic driving penetration rates. The results demonstrate that:1)The reliability evaluation model, which takes into account the road toughness index, effectively reduces the minimum error sum of squares and significantly improves the evaluation accuracy.2)In the free-flow state,as the penetration rate of automatic driving vehicles increases, the reliability of the road section shows a significant improvement, with the road reliability in the fully automatic driving condition increasing by 18%.In the blocking flow state, when the penetration rate exceeds 40%,the road reliability demonstrates an upward trend, and in the case of fully automatic driving, the road reliability can be increased by 27.8%.3)When a small proportion of autonomous vehicles are introduced, the reliability of the road network shows only minor improvements. However, when the penetration rate exceeds 50%,the reliability of the road network gradually improves, with the road network reliability in the case of fully autonomous driving increasing by 23%.The research findings can serve as a valuable reference for the evaluation of road network reliability under automatic driving conditions.
