Study on Deep Removal of Cadmium in High Concentration Cobalt Sulfate System
In order to meet the process requirement of electrolytic cobalt for the quality of cobalt sulfate, the dynamic adsorption of cadmium was carried out by macroporous thiourea functional group chelating resin under the system of high concentration cobalt sulfate. The effects of injection flow rate and the ratio of length to diameter on the removal of cadmium by resin were investigated. The results showed that the con-centration of Co was almost unchanged, and the depth of Cd for cadmium removal was less than 0.1 mg/L,which could meet the requirement of electrolysis. The effect of removing cadmium was the best when the flow rate was 2 BV/h and the ratio of length to diameter was 9:1 under the factors considered comprehensively, such as the use time of the resin, the amount of water treated and the difficulty degree of regeneration. The resin was activated with hydrochloric acid-thiourea and regenerated by back washing with pure water when the effluent condition was reached and the elution rate reached 97%.After 5 times of adsorption-desorption regeneration cycles, the adsorption capacity of Cd could reached 88.6%of the initial. The resin could be re-cycled with good stability.
